A near Fine clean, tight and unmarked copy (Fine apart from a corner crease to one page) with complete dustjacket which has a mark to spine edge. xi + 267 pages. The book is a collection of 15 essays, which have appeared in various books and journals, or have been published as pamphlets. Six of them were delivered as lectures and all but one were composed with a wider audience in view than that of professional philosophers, and apart from the appreciation of Bertrand Russell's philosophy, are mainly polemical. One of the principal themes of the book is that of the nature of philosophy and its relation to other disciplines; but the Wykeham Professor of Logic has also attempted to throw some light on problems of meaning and communication, the foundation of knowledge and the theory of probability. **** NOT EX LIB ****
