Then the man he had been friends with also disappears and is found murdered, and it took Doctor Manson and his cohorts some weeks to solve the strangest jigsaw murder the Homicide Squad had ever handled. **** A SCARCE TITLE ****

Silver title on black boards which have a small line of fading to top of front and light bumping to lower corner tips. Internally there is a small Foyles bookshop label to front pastedown and light foxing to top and fore edges else clean, tight and unmarked. A detective novel in the Doctor Manson series. Set in the quiet village of Little Turnpike in Surrey, split in two by the railway line, where the quickest way from one side of the village to the other is a short cut up the embankment one side, a scramble across the railway line, and down the embankment on the other side. On an early morning in late October, the trunk of a man is found, he had been decapitated, and his head discovered further down the track, indicating an accidental death. When Doctor Manson is called in, he found some odd hairs on the body that should not have been there, and some even more odd footprints, and said it looked like murder to him and it took a long time to prove it. **** A SCARCE TITLE ****
