Warren, Alan Barry Scrapyard - The Preservation Miracle Newton Abbot David and Charles 1988 0715392093 / 9780715392096 Hard Cover Fine Very Good A Fine unmarked copy with a name to front endpaper with near Fine dustjacket which is not price clipped. A large format volume of 288 pages lavishly illustrated. Second impression (first was also 1988). The long running 'Barry Saga' is one of the most amazing features of the railway preservation movement. During the 1960's, when British Rail was withdrawing steam locomotives from service, Woodham's scrapyard at Barry, South Wales took delivery of over 200 for cutting up. But, because of other work, cutting did not immediately take start on any large scale. In 1968, after British Rail ended its steam operation, the first rescue from Woodham's scrapyard was achieved when a Midland 0-6-0 left for the Keighley and Worth Valley line. It was the beginning of what has probably become the greatest rescue of our industrial heritage. **** NOT BOOK CLUB **** career. **** A LARGE HEAVY VOLUME OF 1.05 KILO UNPACKED WEIGHT WHICH WILL REQUIRE ADDITIONAL SHIPPING COST **** Price:
