Gilt and coloured title and royal shield to front with blue and gilt title and crest to spine on grey cloth boards which are bevelled at edges. Boards have fading to spine, some wear to spine head and tail and corner tips. Internally there is a coloured decorative prize bookplate to front pastedown, a blind embossed name and address stamp to front endpaper, age darkening to endpapers else clean and unmarked. 446 pages. Illustrated frontispiece and illustrated extra title page. Author stated as by the author of the 'Spanish Brothers &c' , but is in fact Deborah Alcock (1825-1913), a Victorian writer of historical fiction.
