1 Allingham, Helen and Dick, Stewart The Cottage Homes of England
London Bracken 1984 0946495106 / 9780946495108 Hard Fine Near Fine Allingham, Helen
A Fine unmarked copy with near Fine dustjacket which is price clipped. xvi + 287 pages. 64 full colour illustrations. First published in 1909. Set in unpolluted country, unshaken by motor traffic, Helen Allingham's are the cottages (with electricity and plumbing added) we should all like to own. She painted them in peaceful Edwardian days, in spring and summer, under cloudless skies. Although at this time she lived in London, she could not keep away from the country. Chiefly her subjects came from southern England - Kent, Sussex, Surrey are favourite counties, but she did go as far afield as Alderley Edge in Cheshire. Stewart Dick's perceptive description of this vanishing world brings to life the villages of countryside of which people and their homes were such an organic part. PLEASE NOTE: A HEAVY VOLUME OF 1.13 KILO UNPACKED WEIGHT WHICH WILL REQUIRE ADDITIONAL SHIPPING COST
Price: 8.00 GBP
