Gilt title on purple cloth boards which are clean with just a few small minor marks with no wear but with age darkening to spine. Internally there is foxing to endpapers and a little to fore edge else very clean, tight and unmarked. Introduction by J.G. Lockhart. Canon Henry Falconer Barclay Mackay (1864-1936) had not finished his 'Studies in the Ministry of Our Lord' before his death, but this book contains some of the material he would have used. It also contains some courses of addresses and some sermons of exceptional quality.

Black title on purple cloth boards which are very clean and unmarked with no wear. Internally there is a touch of light foxing to top edge else very clean, tight and unmarked. A near Fine copy. Dustjacket has minimal wear to edges. Sixth impression (first was 1930). Canon Mackay sends an English family of to-day on 'Pilgrim's Progress' - he shows how Greatheart, Faithful, Apollyon, the saints, the sinners and the monsters of Bunyan's great book, walk in modern England. Another example of Canon Mackay's conspicuous gift for vivid portraiture and for blending past with present.

Internally there is some light age marking to top margin of some pages else clean, tight and unmarked. Dustjacket has age darkening and some light foxing. First published in 1936. Canon Mackay's previous 'Some Studies in the Old Testament' drew attention to the author's singular gift for discovering the forgotten elements in scenes and situations that have become old and familiar. London Longmans, Green 1911 First Edition Hard Cover Very Good No Jacket 
Gilt titles on blue cloth boards which are clean and unmarked with just a touch of wear to spine head and tail and to corner tips. Internally there is age darkening to endpapers, light foxing to some early pages and closed edges, some small wear to the top of a few pages, a closed tear to margin of one page and a small ink line to the margin of one page. These sermons were prompted by the failing of English parents to teach Christianity to their children, a view borne out by a public school master who noted that his boys knew little, and the sermons attempt to sugest some of the reasons for this.
