First UK edition. Black title and motif on red boards which are clean and unmarked with no wear. Internally there is a W.H. Smith library label to front pastedown, a little dust marking to top edge else clean, tight and unmarked. Uniform with the Herbert Jenkins Mystery Novels series. Peter Bannon is the pseudonym of the American author Paul Durst (1921-1986). The story is of Greg Travis who came out of prison burning to discover who had murdered his father and who had pinned the manslaughter charge on him that had put him behind bars for 18 months. But once beyond the prison walls he found that there were other pressing affairs to claim his attention as someone had stolen his girl, someone had stolen his job and someone had got the city writhing under a grim racketeering thumb and it soon became apparent that all these incidents were connected. **** A SCARCE TITLE ****
