Wills, Barclay Bypaths in Downland London Methuen 1927 First Edition Hard Cover Good No Jacket Gilt title to spine and blind embossed title to front on blue cloth boards which have a few minor marks to front, light wear to spine head, tail and sides and corner tips. Internally there is foxing to closed edges and sporadically to pages, a neat contemporary inscription to front endpaper 'To one lover of the Downs from two others, with very best wishes................', one plate is loose, else a clean and tight copy. Good+. Fore and lower edges uncut. xvi + 185 pages + 5 pages of book advertisements + 8 page general literature catalogue. 58 illustrations from photographs and drawings by the author (as called for). The Sussex author had a keen interest in Sussex sheep farming, wildlife and nature and was a keen rambler and collector of local artefacts, particularly shepherd crooks and sheep bells (his collection is now at the Worthing Museum). The book records various Downland subjects and much on shepherd crooks, local shepherds, sheep bells, local craftsmen and more. Price:
