2 Restif De La Bretonne, Nicolas-Edme Monsieur Nicolas or The Human Heart Laid Bare
London Barrie and Rockliff 1966 First Edition Hard Cover Very Good No Jacket
Gold title and decoration on blue boards which have a small white mark to back, a minor mark to front and a bump to one front corner. Internally there are two pages which have small holes which although affecting the text the text can still be discerned else very clean, tight and unmarked. 457 pages. 15 Illustrations. Translated, edited and with an introduction by Robert Baldick. Monsieur Nicholas is the story of Restif's life down to 1797, the facts of which are probably embroidered, but nevertheless the work remains a picture of 18th century society and as a frank and searching autobiography. It contains at the end 'Tenth Epoch' - My Last Afflictions and my Approaching End.
