London Macmillan 1896 Hard Cover Very Good AEG No Jacket Sullivan, Edmund J. 
Gilt titles and ornate decoration on blue cloth boards which have some light marks to back, slightly dulled with just a touch of light wear. Internally there is light creasing to 3 pages else clean, tight and unmarked. All edges gilt. xxxvii + 365 pages. 50 full page illustrations by Edmund J. Sullivan. Introduction by Augustine Birrell. Sheridan's 'The Rivals' was first acted in 1775 at Covent Garden, set in fashionable Bath with Mrs. Malaprop the chief comic figure of the play and 'School for Scandal' was first acted in 1777 at Drury Lane and is a comedy of manners. Both plays remain popular to this day.
