London Andrew Dakers 1945 First Edition Hard Cover Near Fine No Jacket
Gold title on black cloth boards which are clean and unmarked with no wear. Internally clean and unmarked. A near Fine copy. Eunice Buckley is one of the pseudonyms of Rose Laure Allatini (1890-1980) a Vienna born English author and once wife to the famous classical pianist, composer, poet and occultist, Cyril Scott (1879-1970). Her novel 'Despised and Rejected' was suppressed by the government during the First World War for fear it would encourage pacifism and was a novel of homosexuality and conscientious objectors. She wrote many popular novels tinged with mysticism, lesbian references and re-incarnation. She separated from her husband in 1941 and went to live with her lover Melanie Mills in Rye in Sussex. This novel with a musical theme is also tinged with lesbian references and is partly set in Vienna. **** A SCARCE TITLE ****
