Fenton, J.C. Preaching the Cross - The Passion and Resurrection According to St. Mark London SPCK 1958 First Edition Soft Cover Very Good No Jacket A near Fine unmarked copy. 80 pages. These lectures were originally given in Passiontide at St. Boniface College, Warminster, to the final year theological students of King's College, London. In many parish churches the Three Hours Service on Good Friday is based upon 'The Seven Words from the Cross', the one saying recorded in Mark and Matthew, the three in Luke, and the three in John being taken as the basis for a series of devotional addresses. The author points out that this method implies that the three main accounts of the Passion each give part of the story and need to be put together to obtain a more complete record of the events. He suggests that a more satisfactory way to conduct a service would be to follow one Gospel alone, and this is what he gives here in the Marcan account. Price:

Fenton, J.C. The Passion According to John - with an Introduction, Notes, and Meditations London SPCK 1961 First Soft Very Good+ A very clean, tight and unmarked copy in card covers which has a little creasing to lower corner. The book meets the need for a thorough but not too academic, a critical and at the same time devotional study of the Passion story in the Fourth Gospel. The six meditations are an inspiring demonstration that the academic and the devotional approach to the Bible are but parts of the whole. Price:
