Black title on red cloth boards which are very clean and unmarked with no wear. Internally there is a contemporary gift inscription to front endpaper and light foxing to closed edges and sporadically to early and later pages else a clean and tight copy. Dustjacket has a small loss (hole) to spine, a little chipping and is price clipped Good+. First UK edition. 159 pages. The American author's tale of a white and silver collie, Bing, a tramp dog without a home, who while still a puppy, lost his mother and was forced to fend for himself. He eventually finds a home with young Joe Harlan, but when a killer dog kills pigs, sheep and calves at night in the peaceful Kansas valley, Bing is supected, and Bing and Joe fight for vindication, and in a breathlessly exciting climax, Bing proves that he was really the greatest thoroughbred of them all. **** SCARCE WITH DUSTJACKET ****

Silver title and silver seagull motif on blue boards which are clean and unmarked with no wear. Internally clean, tight and unmarked with age darkening to page edges. Dustjacket is price clipped with edge wear and chipping. The American author's novel was first published in 1952 and re-issued in the UK as part of Collins' Seagull Library, it tells the story of the Black Tiger, born on the open range who, with his mother Old Snorter, by his side, fought for his existence against the savage prairie wolves, the mountain lions, the spring floods and the winter blizzards which threatened starvation. He is captured with his mother by a young cowboy who gradually wins his confidence.
