Black title on cream cloth boards which has a small mark to front but no wear. Internally there is a small name to front pastedown, age darkening to endpapers and foxing to top edge else clean, tight and unmarked. Dustjacket has chipping and a repaired tear along the spine edge. Professor Mortimer provides a discussion of the general pre-suppositions and ideas which underlie the Christian ethical teaching, treating of such subjects as conscience, the concepts of sin and virtue, and the relation between morality and religion. The book also attempts to explain the traditional Christian attitude towards certain particular matters of conduct; for example, marriage and divorce, gambling, and the rights and duties of private property.
