London Ward, Lock and Tyler 1871 Decorative Cloth Very Good AEG No Jacket
Not dated but the British Library has only one listing for the Ward, Lock and Tyler edition (1871) and collates with the 210 pages present . Illustration of Dr. Jacob Wagner and Freddy to frontispiece tissue protected and 3 other iIllustrations. 18 page Publisher's catalogue bound in at rear. Beautiful decorative front board of a pair of tricolors with revolutionary cap and eagle in gilt, red,white and blue, red lettering on gilt title and authors on decorative gilt scroll with dark green decoration. Spine has more dark green decoration and gilt lettering and title scroll as front, the back board having blind embossed decoration all on light green cloth boards. Boards are clean and unmarked with a little wear to corner tips and spine head and tail. Internally there is an inscription to front endpaper by the principal of South Norwood College dated 1870, cracking of hinge between front endpaper and frontispiece which also has remains of old removed tape present, age darkening to endpapers, some minor sporadic marks else clean.
