Translated by Eric Sutton with an introduction by Vyvyan Holland. Limited edition of 1000 copies for England and America of which this is number 9. Gilt title on light brown cloth boards with decorative paper sides. Internally very clean, tight and unmarked. Fore and lower edges uncut. Top edge gilt. Uniform with XVIII Century French Romances edited by Vyvyan Holland. Book Plate of Ralph Dickinson to front pastedown. Comprises Introduction; Never Again!; Floricourt; Euphrasia or The Charms of Philosophy. 'Point de Lendemain', the authorship of which has also been attributed to Vivant Denon, was first published in 1777. 'Floricourt' appeared first in 1765 and 'Euphrasie', which has also been attributed to another hand, was first published in 1782, 2 years after Dorat's death. Bound and printed at the Curwen Press.

London Vizetelly 1888 Limited Hard Cover Good No Jacket C.Eisen and C. P. Marillier 
One of 1500 Limited Edition copies of which 400 are designed for America. Gilt floral and birds boards with gilt title to spine. Front board worn and scratched and worn on edges with spine split at side for 3.5 inches, however contents are in good condition as are the delightful engravings. Internally there is light sporadic foxing. This volume on hand made paper with the original 47 Copper-Plate Engravings after the designs by C. Eisen and C.P. Marillier. Dark brown coloured endpapers. Publisher's advertisements to front and rear. Not dated but late Victorian. Translated by H. G. Keene. Uniform with the Choice Illustrated Books of the Eighteenth Century series by Vizetelly. Claude Joseph Dorat (1734-1780) was a French writer, also known as Le Chevalier Dorat.
