Gilt titles on blue cloth boards which have minor marks, dulling to spine, gentle bumping to corner tips but no wear. Internally there is age darkening to endpapers, a printed name to front endpaper and just a little light foxing to some pages else clean, tight and unmarked. xxiii + 564 pages. 32 page catalogue dated September 1896 mainly unopened bound in at rear. A new edition illustrated by W. Fr. Brown, True Williams, B. Day and other artists - with also three or four pictures made by the author of this book without outside help; in all. 20 chapters with appendices : A - The Portier; B - Heidelberg Castle; C- The College Prison; D - The Awful German Language; E - Legends of the Castles; F - German Journals. Mark Twain's celebrated travels through Germany, Italy and the Alps in 1878, first published in 1880, and now considered a classic.
