Gilt title and scout motif on green cloth boards which are very clean and unmarked with no wear. Internally very clean, tight and unmarked with light foxing to top and fore edge. A Very Good+ copy. Dustjacket has a removal to front with chipping and is not price clipped. The story of the Boy Scout Movement, and of the man to whose inspiration and devotion it owes its existence. Robert Baden-Powell, then a national hero from the Siege of Mafeking, first published 'Scouting for Boys' in 1908, in fourpenny instalments, and the response was immediate and extraordinary, and within a year Scouting was established not only throughout Britain but in Australia, Canada, New Zealand and South Africa.
