Conway, Peter The Palindrome London Andrew Dakers 1951 First Edition Cloth Good No Jacket Dark brown title on brown cloth boards which have some marks and fading to spine. Internally there is a contemporary inscription to front endpaper else very clean and unmarked. Peter Conway is one of the pseudonyms of George Alexis Milkomanovich Milkomane (1903-1996) who also wrote under the pseudonyms George Braddon, George Sava and George Borodin. A fairly uncommon novel of a journalist who leaves wartime London for Burma as a war correspondent and meets an army officer with a first class record who is as fine a personality as the journalist is worthless. Conversely the army officer returns to London and slowly goes to pieces in the degenerate drinking club where the journalist is first encountered, whilst the journalist has somehow discovered the courage and decency he so much admired in the officer.
