Maurice Barrymore began life as Herbert Blyth in India and was sent to England for schooling where he was expelled from Harrow, quit Oxford and became Britain's middle-weight boxing champion then turned to acting. His Victorian family of civil servants, soldiers and clergy disowned him and he took the name Barrymore and sailed for America where he married Georgie, the daughter of the theatrical Drews and produced three children Lionel, Ethel and John. Maurice became an adored matinee idol, frustrated playwright, extravagant collector of animals and lover to many theatrical great ladies but eventually eccentricity would turn to madness and he would die tragically. Before then there would be a social life filled with characters such as the Prince of Wales, Lillie Langtry, Sarah Bernhardt, George Bernard Shaw et al. **** A HEAVY VOLUME OF OVER 0.9 KILO UNPACKED WEIGHT WHICH WILL REQUIRE EXTRA SHIPPING COSTS **** Price:
