A near Fine uninscribed copy with decorative bookplate to front pastedown. Dustjacket, illustrated by Dave Pether, is near Fine and not price clipped. An early novel, using one of his pseudonyms, by Dean Koontz. Later re-issued as 'Ice Bound'. A novel of a worldwide drought and the possible solution of using giant chunks of Arctic ice, split by high explosives and towed to northern ports to be melted. An internatonal group of scientists plant bombs deep in the Arctic ice to study the effects of the explosions but before they can withdraw to safety, a tidal wave breaks the ice on which they are working, setting it adrift. Cut off from rescue by fierce storms, threatened by cold, by hunger and a homicidal maniac in their midst, the scientists count the minutes to midnight when the bombs will detonate and their prison of ice will become their frozen coffin. *** NOT AN EX LIBRARY COPY *** *** SCARCE UK FIRST EDITION *** Price: 100.00 GBP
