A near Fine unmarked copy with dustjacket which is not price clipped and has some shelf wear marks. An absorbing account of the Swiss born Ernest Bader who came to London before the First World War and decided that life as an employee was without purpose and he set up his company in 1920 as the sole agent in England for the new product 'celluloid. As his business grew his concerns grew to avoid exploiting labour and he created a Christian environment where profits would be shared amongst the workers and would be free from the constraints of formal welfare capitalism. A generation before the famous Bullock report he established a closer community with the Scott Bader Fellowship in 1946, which failed but undeterred he tried again in 1949 and the Scott Bader Commonwealth was formed in 1951 with Bader signing away all his shares in a company that he had built over 30 years.
