Gilt title on blue cloth boards which are clean and unmarked with just light wear to spine tail and corner tips. Internally some light foxing to endpapers and a small ink mark to one page else clean, tight and unmarked. Dustjacket has some staining and loss to spine but all text is present. A very heavy, large format volume of 897 pages bound in thick boards with reinforced hinges which deals with the whole history of human life and all that lesser life on and in the land, in the sea and the air. The whole scope of life in its origin, development, mutations, and variations here finds careful and lucid explanation; from the earliest to the latest of living creatures; from the tiniest ultra-microscopic fragment of life to the greatest of the earth's denizens. Every stage in the evolution and life of mankind is adequately covered, from embryo to final decay. Arranged into nine books and profusely illustrated. It certainly is a magnum opus. **** A LARGE HEAVY VOLUME OF 2.7 KILO UNPACKED WEIGHT WHICH WILL REQUIRE EXTRA SHIPPING COST ****
